Cliff Lee leaves the cannoli and takes his gun

With Cliff Lee taking his services back to Philadelphia, he has rejected a "menu of options" from the Texas Rangers and million dollars worth of contract money from the New York Yankees. He essentially left the cannoli (both Texas and NY money) and took his left-handed gun to join a top-of-the-line pitching staff made up a #1 staters.

Skip Bayless, the morning the news broke on ESPN's First and 10 show, called Cliff Lee, "LeBron Lee," perhaps as a jab at Cliff taking less money and going to a team with a more than legitimate chance of winning championships. I won't fault the guy for taking less money in order to win more titles, but I will say this: it's possible that his back is still bothering him and the pressure to perform at a high level won't be as necessary in Philly as it would have been had he gone to Texas, where he would have been THE go-to-guy and team ace.

Good luck Cliff and hope to see you again in Arlington in October and November!
